What are E-Sports?

          E-sports is a boogie-word thats being slanderously thrown around by news stations on slow days. A spectacle by and for children they say. Its a word synonymous with the death of american values and a swan song for the muscular jocks once sent west to stake their claim.   Gone are the days of a father and son throwing the old pigball around and drinking beer made from fermented hotdogs. See you later pops, I'm off to play with my digi-dad. E-sports made 700 million dollars in 2017. Its deadly serious. Light History           In 1980 Atari held an event for their game Space Invaders and 10 thousand people showed up. The next year Twin Galaxies started touring the country to visit arcades and collate high scores. As time marched on we moved to multiplayer games like DOOM and Quake. Towerfall is the Best Game

          A dim basement somewhere with shag carpeting. Staying up late for the third night in a row with no chance of stopping. Playing till your thumbs twitch, anticipating moves you haven't thought of yet. Words fail to capture the love I have for game nights as a kid. Memories of spilled sodas and playing till the mythical hour of 2am; of arguing strategies and dodging controllers thrown by sore losers. I hope you have at least one of these memories to draw upon. For me Towerfall is the freshest entry in a dusty drawer marked FUN.           As I played Towerfall for the first time I felt nostalgia. And I hated it. Not hate for the game, but hate that nostalgia is the best word for an experience I crave daily. Towerfall is a game made with distilled retro love and childlike glee.
